Center is its Periphery The exhibition is a monumental abstract art display that questions the way we relate to our environment. It invites us to become aware of our actions, starting from the question: How can we reconnect with nature? And thus, relocate the sacred within it to protect life. The exhibit consists of setting up a circular installation that immerses us in a landscape inspired by the forms and colors of the Valle de Cuatro Ciénegas, Coahuila (Flora and Fauna Protection Area), which houses a unique ecosystem and is one of the places with the highest concentration of endemic species. This immersive exhibition invites the viewer to gain an understanding of how our actions affect our surroundings, while simultaneously being affected by what surrounds us. How do we connect with what is different from us? How can we carve a better future in coexistence with other species? How can we reconnect with nature and relocate the sacred within it to protect life? These are some of the questions that the artist starts with in creating this exhibition. "I am profoundly grateful to the National System of Creators, to my team, to the Venustiano Carranza Museum, and all the people involved, friends, and collaborators who made this dream a reality. A very special valley where I have been working since 2009. It's impressive that over millions of years, this place has evolved and survived through time, and now it is in danger of extinction due to human impact. This project seeks to give back to Cuatro Ciénegas some of what it has given me over these years. Seeing it change is impactful, and its continued existence is in the hands of the people. It's important that now, as it has developed as a "magical town" and a tourist site, businesses also give back part of their earnings to the community as well as to protected natural areas, so that it can truly be sustainable. We know that the current water crisis is a global problem, and raising awareness of this issue to take impactful actions is everyone's commitment. I invite you to watch the video on YouTube... The exhibition is presented in the courtyard of the historic Venustiano Carranza Museum in Cuatro Ciénegas, Coahuila, from October 8th to November 5th, 2022. As part of the cultural agenda, the artist will engage in interactions with the audience throughout the duration of the exhibition." “El Centro es su periferia” La exposición es una muestra pictórica monumental de carácter abstracto que cuestiona la forma en la que nos relacionamos con nuestro entorno. invita a crear conciencia de nuestras acciones, partiendo de la pregunta: ¿Cómo podemos volver a vincularnos con la naturaleza? Y así reubicar lo sagrado en ella para proteger la vida. La muestra consiste en el montaje de una instalación circular que nos remite estar inmersos en un paisaje inspirado en las formas y colores del Valle de Cuatro Ciénegas, Coahuila (Área de protección de flora y fauna) que alberga un ecosistema único siendo uno de los lugares con mayor concentración de especies endémicas. La muestra de carácter envolvente invita al espectador a generar conocimiento de cómo nuestras acciones afectan a nuestro entorno, a la vez que éste se ve afectado por lo que le rodea. ¿Cómo nos vinculamos con lo que es diferente a nosotros? ¿Cómo podemos labrar un mejor futuro en coexistencia con otras especies? ¿Como podemos volver a vincularnos con la naturaleza y así reubicar lo sagrado en ella para proteger la vida? Son algunas de las preguntas de las que parte la artista para realizar esta exposición. Estoy - Profundamente agradecida con el sistema nacional de creadores, a mi equipo de trabajo, al museo Venustiano Carranza y todas las personas involucradas, amigos y colaboradores que hicieron que esté sueño se hiciera realidad. Un valle muy especial en el que he trabajado .. desde el 2009 "Es impresionante que a través de millones de años este lugar ha evolucionando y ha sobrevivido en el tiempo y ahora se encuentre en peligro de extinción por el impacto humano. Este proyecto busca regresar a cuatro Cienegas algo de lo que me ha dado a lo largo de estos años. Verlo cambiar es impactante y está en las manos de las personas que siga existiendo. Es importante que ya que actualmente se ha desarrollaado como un pueblo mágico y sitio turístico las empresas también le devuelvan parte de los ingresos a la comunidad así como a las areas naturales protegidas para que realmente sea sustentable. Sabemos que la crisis de agua actualmente es un problema global y hacer conciencia de este tema para tomar acciones que realmente tengan impacto es un compromiso de todos. Como parte de la agenda cultural la artista realizará algunas activaciones de la pieza con el público a lo largo de la duración de la exposición. Este es un proyecto realizado con el apoyo del Sistema de Apoyos a la Creación y Proyectos Culturales (SACPC)."
